What is 12th Stag?
12th Stag is a community based fund whose purpose of the Fund is to increase the playing staff of Mansfield Town Football Club, whether temporarily or permanently, in time of need. It is not another fan’s membership group as it is purely a place for fans to donate money in order to support our club in the transfer market.
It appears to be a copy of the approach taken by Oxford United Supporters’ Trust (OxVox). Why did you copy their model?
The OxVox model is one which has been impressive in how quickly it was set up and how it has enabled the club to add three players to its squad in this season alone. We are pleased to have a good relationship with OxVox who have been very supportive to us in our development of 12th Stag.
Who will oversee it?
There will be an overseeing trust group made up of representatives of the club, ( Mark Stevenson ) and Fans Paul Nyland, Ben Mason and Andy Gallagher. The 12thstag will work in the framework of the SFU but will opperate as a seperate entity.
Who chooses the players?
The manager and no-one else. There will not be any leverage or influence being exerted by the 12th Stag or supporter groups on the decisions made by the manager over the selection of new targets.
Will this money be used off the field as well as for buying players?
No. The fund is only aimed at increasing the playing staff. It is possible that funding for off the field needs may be met by the fan groups.
Why are the supporters groups or trust not raising the money on their own?
We are highly aware of the fact that not all fans want to join up to a Supporter group and this is an opportunity for the fan groups, the club and the body of supporters as a whole to work together to support our manager and the owners of the club.
How can I help?
Donations are fine, and of course will be very important, but we want to encourage cash to be raised via community events.
